Aim |

To produce a series of annotated photographs
of common wild plants to support non-specialists
in teaching botany at KS1 and KS2 and to encourage
keen observation and accurate identification. |

Description |

| |
The project will involve: |
| |
|
| |
 |
collecting samples, making
arrangements for photographing and scanning
|
 |
researching and designing the annotations,
making links across the curriculum |
| |
- language and literacy (introducing
key words and new vocabulary) |
| |
- mathematics (counting, sorting,
analysing, eg averaging number of points
on holly leaves) |
| |
- history (folklore, uses, e.g. as
medicines) |
| |
- science (observation, identification,
health and safety) |
| |
- art and technology (leaf printing,
making decorations) |
 |
producing supporting notes for teachers
|
 |
exploring ways of producing the material
to a high quality at a reasonable price
|
 |
giving demonstration lessons using
the material |
